Who writes this

One editor, not a content team. I learned this craft the usual way — by needing it: community-radio interviews recorded beside a working kitchen, a decade of wedding-video dialogue nobody could reshoot, and boxes of family tapes digitized on weekends. The guides here are the routines I actually run, written down with the starting values I actually use, and re-verified against current app versions before anything is published.

What this site is (and isn't)

It's a how-to library for cleaning files: memos, episodes, videos, archives. It is deliberately not about live audio — noise during a live conversation is a different problem with different tools, and mixing the two is how tutorials end up helping nobody. Every page states that scope because the distinction changes every recommendation.

How recommendations work

Each tutorial teaches the manual method honestly, then tells you when I'd stop doing it by hand — and the tool I'd pay instead. Some of those recommendation buttons are affiliate links, marked wherever they appear. They never change which tool a guide teaches, which settings it recommends, or a grade in the roundup: two of the four category winners there pay this site nothing.

Verification, dated

Menu paths move. Every tutorial's prerequisites strip carries the app version it was verified against and the date; when an app ships a redesign, the guide gets re-walked, not patched from memory. If you catch a stale path before I do, that's the most useful mail this site can receive.
